High performing teams are not easy to create.

Getting them to play together, that's the hard part."

Creating and Sustaining High Performance Teams

Teams are the way organizations get things done. In general, teams work better than individuals.

Yet, we often find that teams operate well below their potential in productivity and effectiveness. Why? Because putting people together and calling them a team doesn't make it so.

Harnessing the power and deriving the benefits of a high performing team takes intentional effort. Make no mistake: this is hard work. But failing to take advantage of a team's potential is to walk away from a real opportunity.

Types of Teams We Help

We work with …

  • All types of teams: executive teams, task teams, project teams, functional teams.
  • At every stage of their lifecycle: starting up, breaking down, on-going, or winding up.
  • And every level of effectiveness: forming – storming – norming - and performing!

How We Can Help

  • Team Chartering – Chartering guides a team through the process of defining itself: its scope, goals, behaviors, purpose and direction. It lays the foundation for shared expectations and excellent performance.

Most team derailers can be traced back to unresolved initial issues such as unclear goals, lack of commitment, role confusion etc. All of these potential derailers can be minimized with a successful chartering session.
  • Team Re-Chartering – While, ideally, chartering happens as the team is being formed the process can also be used to get existing teams back on track in response to changes in methods or practices, moving through phases, adding new members, etc.

In fact, depending on the complexity of the team and its mission, we often build in re-chartering or chartering booster sessions when we are helping new teams to design an on-going team management approach.
  • Team Facilitation – We provide live facilitation to help ongoing teams work through difficult conversations, create alignment and increase overall effectiveness. These teams are not necessarily in crisis but there is a desire to raise the performance bar or create a breakthrough in team effectiveness. Executive and Leadership teams are ideal candidates for this service.
  • Team Intervention – No matter how talented, well designed or committed a team is, sometimes it gets derailed. We have helped countless teams get back on track quickly. And typically they perform at a much higher level than before things went off the rails.
